Asphalt Astronaut is the ambient indie-folk project of Tucson-based songwriter and producer Jessica Tanner. Starting in late 2020 with the acoustic-driven Antares, she has spent the last several years expanding her sound across five self-produced albums—including Andromeda, Aurora, Anodyne, and the fantasy-narrative 2026 release, Asphodel.

While her albums wrap listeners in dense, ethereal production, her live performances offer an intimate contrast—delivering stripped-down acoustic sets, honest storytelling, and frequent guest keys from her friend and collaborator, Tim Puckett. They play nearly every weekend throughout Southern Arizona with an ongoing residency at Hotel McCoy.

Her work has landed on "Top Albums of the Year" lists in Tucson Weekly and Phoenix New Times, as well as earning a 2026 Josie Music Awards nomination for Songwriter Achievement ("Acolyte").
