The Dirty Licks are a Tucson-based instrumental surf / garage / punk rock band known for high-energy, reverb-heavy desert surf sounds. They describe themselves as a surf/garage/punk band from Tucson, and their music blends classic surf guitar with garage and punk influences.
They’ve built a strong following in Tucson’s underground/garage scene
Their sound is often described as “surf punk from the desert”
They’ve released multiple records including Dusty Boots and Snake Skin Suits and newer material through 2025.
They’ve performed at Surf by Surf West in Austin, TX, as well as at Surfapalooza, and have opened for notable acts such as Daikaiju, Surfer Joe, and Messer Chups, and Los Straitjackets. among others.
They’re mentioned regularly by locals when people discuss favorite Tucson bands / hidden gems in the scene.
